演講人簡介：熊存瑞，美國西密西根大學曆史系教授。原是中國社會科學院考古所碩士（1982），導師為中國科學院副院長暨考古所所長夏鼐，1984年赴澳專攻中國中古史，獲國立澳洲大學獲博士學位（1989）。主要著作：1.Historical Dictionary of Medieval China (Scarecrow Press, 2009)； 2.Sui-Tang Chang'an: A Study in the Urban History of Medieval ChinaI (Center for Chinese Studies, University of Michigan, 2000)；3.Emperor Yang of the Sui Dynasty: His Life, Times, and Legacy (State U of New York Press, 2006) 另有譯著《史通》。A Thorough Exploration in Historiography: an annotated translation of the Shitong by the Tang court historiographer Liu Zhiji (661–721).；曾任西密西根大學學術委員和Early Medieval China 主編（1-5卷）。
